Currently – June 2017

I’m linking up with Anne of In Residence and Erin of Love, Fun and Football to share what we’re planning, wishing, learning, browsing, and going.  I always enjoy seeing how different bloggers interpret each month’s Currently assignment and getting great ideas from them!  Here are MY answers!

I have currently been…

Planning:  the photo album from our recent trip to Alaska.  This is my first time working with Shutterfly.  I fell in love with digital photo albums when I used My Publisher to create albums from previous trips, but now My Publisher is going the way of the dodo bird.  *sigh*  We took a zillion pictures during our trip, so the first big step was deciding which were my favorites.  Once I gathered those, the album itself came together without too much trouble.  The Shutterfly site was pretty intuitive, and I enjoyed the process.  Now I’m excitedly awaiting the delivery of my album!  Scope out the blog posts about our trip!  Kayaking, Whittier, Glacier Cruise, and Pipeline.

Wishing:  I could take another trip to Alaska this summer!  We had a BLAST!  We saw spring taking hold in Anchorage, and I’d love to zip back up there now that more stuff is blooming and greening up!

Learning:  that parts of Alaska are a rain forest!  WHAT?!?  I thought all rain forests were hot and steamy.  I was wrong!  Apparently there’s this thing called a temperate rain forest, and there’s a big ol’ one that stretches from southeast Alaska down the coast to Washington state!  Who knew?!?

Browsing:  info on the Hoh Rain Forest and Olympic National Park in Washington.  These are most definitely going on our “we must go there” list!  Wow!

Going:  to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg for  a long weekend.  My husband and I haven’t been there before, and we’re looking forward to it!

What are YOU currently up to?!?  Leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Hey Michael Ann! I love making vacation albums through Shutterfly. I have been doing it for 3 or 4 years and we always love looking back through them. Our summer vacation was Pigeon Forge last July. We had a blast. I had always wanted to go to Dollywood–so clean, so friendly and the nightly fireworks are great! We also went white water rafting on the Upper Pigeon Forge river —it was awesome! I hope you guys have a good time!

    1. Photo albums are just the best, aren’t they! It’ll be just my husband and me at Pigeon Forge. Would you recommend Dollywood? (I don’t do well with large groups of cranky children, if that helps you make a recommendation!) I know we’ll do some hiking and lots of eating, but that’s all we have planned so far.

      1. I don’t remember it being overly crowded last July. There are rides (which my younger son and I love) but there are music shows and other things to do and enjoy. I would say to check out the website to see if you think it would be a good fit. We also did the water park on a separate day and that was lots of fun too.

  2. Way to get right on that photo book! It always takes me so long to get around to them, but I do like using Shutterfly. They often have great deals, so it’s worth doing the book layout and then waiting to hit “order” until they’ve got a sale going on! Alaska sounds amazing!

    1. Feels good to have the album done! Can’t wait for it to arrive! Alaska IS amazing! I still can’t believe how gorgeous it is. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment, Anne!

  3. I LOVE Shutterfly! I try to make yearly family books through them and they’re always my go-to choice! That Alaska picture is absolutely beautiful. My husband and I have always talked about taking a cruise there!

    1. I’m glad to hear you’re pleased with Shutterfly! You and your husband should definitely go to Alaska! I don’t know anything about the cruise, but we sure did have a good time up there on our own!

      1. Coming back to let you know I received my album from Shutterfly, and I’m pleased with it! I wasn’t too sure at first, but I think it’s good. They didn’t meet the guaranteed delivery time I paid for, but they did refund the expedited fee after I asked them to do so. I *do* love having an album of our exciting trip! Can’t wait to share it with friends and family!

    1. I’m glad you liked the photo! Be sure to check out my posts on Alaska to see more photos! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a note!

  4. That first photo is just stunning. Just such a perfect tribute to the beauty in our world. My goodness.

Hope you enjoyed Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It has been YEARS since I was there. Graduated from UTKnoxville in ’79 of the last century!! And it has probably been that long since I was up in those parts. Oh, my beautiful Smokies. Say hello to them for me. Hope you will share pictures!
