Nashville: The Food! (Brunch)

Nashville: The Food! (Brunch)

My sweet husband has wanted to go to Nashville, Tennessee for a long time, and we finally made the trip over the 4th of July holiday. I’m so glad we did! I wasn’t sure what to expect in Nashville, but I was struck by three things: the music, the history, and the food. Today I’ll share some of our favorite food experiences, and then I’ll share some about the music and history over the next few days. We focused on…

Summertime Adventure List

Summertime Adventure List

Summer is here, y’all!  Temperatures are so high here in Savannah we’re under heat advisories every afternoon.  I’m not even joking!  Since today is the first full day of summer, I thought I’d share my Summertime Adventure List.  I’m keeping it short and sweet this time since I’ll be on the road the next four weeks. This summer I want to: 1.  Bake something special.  It’s been a while since I made something special, and I think it’s about time. …

I am currently… Showering:  business on my town’s brand new Culver’s!  Frozen custard, y’all!  Mmmmmmmm.  It’s a problem, really. Cultivating:  deeper friendships.  This is something God laid on my heart a while back, and I’ve enjoyed being intentional about scheduling coffee dates, frozen custard meetups,…

Random Thoughts on a Rainy Friday

Random Thoughts on a Rainy Friday

We’re having a rainy Friday here today.  Temps are nice.  A cool 62 degrees last I looked.  (Yes, that’s cool for Coastal Georgia!)  It’s been a quiet day.  A pajama day, if you’d like to know.  It’s been a good day for mulling things over, you know? Rainy days always make me miss Europe.  And since I just finished a great audio book set on a Scottish island, I’m especially missing it!  The book is The Cafe by the Sea…

Little Duck Diner

Little Duck Diner

It’s a rainy Sunday here in Savannah. We decided to try the Little Duck Diner after church for lunch today. We ran across it a whole back and have been meaning to try it out. We’re glad we did! The rain was really coming down. Not perfect when you have a 20-25 minute wait for your table! Thankfully we stayed pretty dry. Hooray! We made it inside! What a pretty place! I opted for the Fancy Shmancy Grilled Cheese. It…

Prep Dish: A Review

Prep Dish: A Review

Do I love Prep Dish?  Yes.  Yes, I do.  I’ve talked about it here briefly, but I want to give you the whole scoop on it today. I love to cook, y’all!  LOVE to cook!  What I do NOT like to do is figure out WHAT to cook.  Can I get an amen?  Or is it just me?  AND I’m a messy cook, so I destroy the kitchen every time I cook…and I cook a lot. And then, PREP DISH!!!…

Autumn Adventures – Final Update

Autumn Adventures – Final Update

Yes, this is way overdue!  Better late than never, I say.  Better late than never.  We checked off a few more fun adventures that I really meant to share with you, so I’ll do that now.  My official Autumn Adventures list and link to updates is posted HERE, if you want to peek back and see where I started! Item #5 on my list was to have my Christmas shopping finished before Thanksgiving.  That didn’t happen, and I gave myself…

Biscuit Debacle

Biscuit Debacle

Goodness gracious!   I pride myself on being a good cook!  I’ve told you the basic rules that my mom taught me.  Usually I do really well in the kitchen! Usually. I’m reading Bread & Wine: A Love Letter to Life Around the Table by Shauna Niequist as part of a reading challenge this year (but mainly because my good friend Sheila, the queen of hospitality, recommended it to me).  It’s a LOVELY book, exquisitely written, and it includes some amazing…
