Springtime Fun List – Update #2
Let’s see how things are going with my Springtime Fun List! These are the goals I set for spring 2017.
Go to the beach at least twice.
- Try two new restaurants in downtown Savannah.
- ✔ Go to Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
- Take a trip to Alaska.
- ✔ Buy a new Easter dress.
- ✔ Get a new, official (professional) picture of Gene and me.
- ✔ Focus on Easter by observing Lent.
- ✔ Make and put up some springtime decorations in the house.
- Go kayaking in a new location.
- Write at least one REAL letter or note to a friend each week.
Since the last update on April 27 we checked off a few more things:
We took that trip to Alaska! I was there for three whole weeks, a week and a half for work and then a week and a half of family vacation. I saw a portion of the Alaska Pipeline. We explored Whittier and took a glacier cruise! (We did a lot more, but I haven’t blogged about it yet!) Alaska is AMAZING! We had a great time and made a lot of memories.
While we were in Alaska our daughter got some great shots of Gene and me! She has her degree in Photography, so she counts as a professional in my book!
My original plan was to get a more formal, dressy shot, but out favorite times together tend to be outside on a trail somewhere, so I think these are great pictures of US!
We DID kayak in a new location alright! We spent about five hours kayaking on Prince William Sound while we were in Alaska. You can read all about it and see pictures here.
So what’s left to do before June 21? I need another trip to the beach. Maybe we can do that this week. We still need to try two new restaurants in Savannah. I think we’ll get that on the calendar tomorrow. If we don’t do that, it may well not happen. And I’ve STILL not written a single note/letter to a friend. I’m really bummed about that. Real mail is such a special treat!
Oh, and I guess I should post pictures of my springtime decorations! That still needs to happen too.
How are YOUR springtime plans coming along? Let me know what you’re up to! Leave me a comment below; it’ll make my day!

I love the close up photo of you and your husband! We likewise have way more trail photos together than studio photos together over here . . . there’s just something about being out in nature!
So happy to hear that you both experienced and loved Alaska. I find the beauty of Alaska very hard to put into words, do you agree? It’s an amazingly stunning and vast place that simply must be experienced to understand.
Hope to book and attend your new-to-you dineouts in Savannah so I can enjoy reading about them vicariously. 🙂
The beauty of Alaska IS hard to put into words! “Jaw-dropping” is the best I can come up with! My mouth was hanging open half the time I was there! Seriously! I’ll keep you posted on our Savannah food adventures!
What an amazing trip you had! You certainly got to do some cool things! I can help you with that beach trip thing! Didnt you visit a beach in Alaska? You didn’t say you wanted to sunbathe at the beach! Haha!!
HA! I wondered if anyone would mention the beach thing! Yes, I was at the beach/ocean/shore nearly the whole time I was in Alaska! I already double-dipped the Alaska trip with counting the kayaking in a new place though! My intention was to kayak in a new place HERE! Ah well! I’ll totally double dip on that one, I guess. Sunbathing is, indeed, my intention for “going to the beach!” We have time today, but I don’t want to be on the road today since it’s the last day of Memorial Day weekend. It’s too crazy out there…and on the beaches too. Soon though!
Totally off subject but I love how a comment left on your blog becomes a real conversation. Thank you for always being so engaging.
I truly never had much interest in going to Alaska. Too cold. In my head, anyway. But your experience has given me to cause to reevaluate. I can buy new warm clothes to take, cute coats and warm layers that I don’t get to enjoy in El Paso much. And your adjective? adverb? ‘jaw-dropping’ and Tamara’s descriptions have me anxious to experience this beauty for myself.
Didn’t realize or remember your daughter is a photographer. You know, there is something to be said about photos taken impromptu as you live life. You and Gene look happy and in love with each other and your shared life’s adventures.
Thank you so much for being a part of the bucket list series. I am so blessed to have met some great new friends through this series. And so glad you and Sheila have joined me.
Comments are my favorite! I really do love follow up conversations to posts! Thank YOU for taking the time to read my posts and engage afterward!
My daughter has her degree in Photography but isn’t working in that field right now. I love having her here with us for MANY reasons, but her photography skill is definitely one of them! LOL!
Please DO consider visiting Alaska sometime. It truly is amazing. June or July would be a great time to go. Temps in the Anchorage area are very pleasant then, and you have nearly 24 hours of daylight! I was cold only one or two days, really, and one of those was when we were up on a mountain. High elevations are just colder. As always, I’m happy to help with travel planning! Just let me know!
That trip to Alaska looked amazing. Super cool. Isn’t receiving real mail such a treat. It’s so exciting to actually get something in the mail that’s not a bill or a statement.
Exactly! I really want to be intentional about doing that.
Beautiful photos of you and Gene, and Alaska! You’ve done very well with your Springtime fun list.
Thanks, Natalie! And thanks for stopping by!
