I’m linking up with Anne from In Residence to share what I’m CURRENTLY celebrating, collecting, gifting, thinking, and trying. Here we go!

I am CURRENTLY:

celebrating: our 32nd wedding anniversary! Our actual wedding anniversary abounded with emotion, not only from deep love for my guy, but also because that’s the day our son and daughter-in-law headed back home to Alaska after being in our local area for a few weeks. Goodbyes stink, y’all! But never fear! We celebrated the next day by taking a riverboat ride on the Savannah River here in Savannah! We took the narrated tour on the Georgia Queen with Savannah Riverboat Cruises. The live narration was really well done! We learned a lot about Savannah’s ports as well as the city herself. BONUS: TWO of the incredibly huge Neo Panamax ships came into port while we were on the riverboat, so we got an up close view of them! After the cruise we enjoyed scoping out the new Plant Riverside district at the end of River Street. Such a fun day!

collecting: a huge list of books on my To Be Read list thanks to Anne Bogel’s Summer Reading Guide! I look forward to this guide every summer. Do you? Anne is the champion of helping us answer the question, “What Should I Read Next?” Check out her super fun podcast and get your own copy of the Summer Reading Guide HERE. I’ve already put a few books on hold at my library, I’ve listened to a couple via Scribd, and I bought one, Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner. For even more great book recommendations, check out the podcast “From the Front Porch” by Annie B. Jones, owner of one of my favorite bookstores, The Bookshelf in Thomasville, Georgia. And then buy books from her!

gifting: myself with a couple of fun home decor items from The Nested Fig in Greenville, South Carolina. Their website offers a ton of great stuff! I recently purchased this darling mirror and the best vase ever known to man! Or woman!

thinking: about where and when to travel. BOY, do we have the itch! Now that we’re fully vaccinated and things are opening up, we’re ready to start planning some trips. I suspect we’ll wait until next year to do anything REALLY big, but we’re hoping to do a special trip within the US later this year. And you KNOW we have some camping trips coming up!

trying: some new-to-me recipes from Kendra Adachi, The Lazy Genius. My family dutifully eats salad every now and then, but THIS salad is a game changer! We LOVE it! And this super simple lunch packs HUGE flavor! Have I eaten it for breakfast? Yes. Of course I have! What a flavor-full way to start my day! And I don’t even especially like chickpeas!

(Wanted to let you know that the Scribd link is my affiliate link. That’s the only one!)

Thanks for stopping by Out and Back today! I hope you’ll come again soon! If you have a minute, pop over to In Residence to see how other bloggers responded to these same five prompts! Everybody comes at them from different angles!

    1. Hi, Lauren! Thanks for stopping by! And thanks for reminding me to remember not to forget the unread books waiting for me on my shelves!

  1. Oh boy – that mirror is too stinkin cute!! Great flower arrangements, too:) Congrats on your anniversary…glad you had fun celebrating. I was just looking into those Savannah River Tours. Hmmm – it could be a sign!:)

    1. Aren’t those wee bunnies just the cutest! Do scope out the river tours! We opted for just the tour trip, but a good friend of mine recently did the dinner cruise and said the food was really good.

  2. What a delightful little vase! And have you actually been to The Bookshelf in Thomasville?! I feel like I know these people from the podcast and my online orders – kind of dying for a visit. Might need to make that happen once we finally reschedule our Savannah trip that was cancelled during Covid… though I guess the cities are not actually all that close. Georgia is big!

Happy anniversary and happy summer to you 🙂

    1. Hi, Anne! YES! I’ve been to The Bookshelf several times, and it’s every bit as lovely as you think it is! And yes, it’s about 4 hours from Savannah. I’m actually hoping to pop into the shop this weekend since we’ll kind of sort of be in the area. I don’t need much excuse to eat or shop in Thomasville! I really do hope you get to go one day!

        1. It’ll be a miracle if we get to stop at all! 😫 Probably wishful thinking on my part. I need to plan a long weekend there when temps go back down. Or sooner!

  3. That vase is so fun! And I am going to check out some of those book lists. Three weeks until school is out for the summer and then I will have SO MUCH TIME to read!!!!!! Aaaaaahhhhh!!! And yes, we are planning some big trips too!

  4. So nice to discover a blog post from you. Happy anniversary. I am sorry you had to say goodbye to your kids on a day that should have been nothing but celebratory. Thank you for reminding me of Anne’s summer book list. Heading over to check out her suggestions.
