Currently…In Michael Ann’s Kitchen
Hello and welcome to all the Currently-ers, the OutAndBack-ers, and the Write 31 Day-ers! Whatever group you’re in, thanks for stopping by! Today is Day 5 of the Write 31 Days Challenge, and it’s also Currently Day, so let’s do a cool mash-up!
Currently…in my kitchen…I am:
Cheers-ing: the advent of the autumn season. Hooray! Temps here in Coastal Georgia are still not cooperating, but I’m baking anyway. I talked about Sweet Potato Pound Cake yesterday, and I’m slowly working my way through this year’s Southern Living fall baking recipes. This Cinnamon Roulade is fiddly to make but REALLY yummy!
Organizing: a meal planning list for our canoe/treehouse trip. We’ll need to pack meals and drinking water for a couple of days, and it all has to fit in our canoe.

Dreaming: of having a well-organized pantry and office area without having to sort it all out myself. Alas.
Buying: a new subscription to Plan to Eat. I’ll talk more about this soon, but go ahead and check it out! It’s a powerful tool. (Affiliate link alert!)
Listening: to Adele’s 25, podcast What Should I Read Next, and podcast From the Front Porch while I’m cooking in my kitchen.
This is Day 5 of the Write 31 Days Challenge. To see the full listing of posts in this series, click here.

Yes yes yes to Adele! I love to listen to music while I cook, too.
Very cool! She keeps me company a lot when I’m cooking and cleaning! Thanks for stopping by and for leaving a comment!
I have never heard of sweet potato pound cake. It looks wonderful. Your kitchen is very beautiful too and I look forward to following along and reading your stories.
It was new to me too, Rachel! But it sure is tasty! Thanks for stopping by!
I can’t wait to hear more about your canoe/treehouse adventure!
We’re excited! We’ll be checking with them next week to see if the flooding that will come after Hurricane Matthew will postpone our trip or not. I don’t fancy canoeing on an out-of-control river!
I love the What Should I Read Next podcast! So helpful! Your canoe and treehouse trip sounds like so much fun! Can’t wait to read about it! Good luck packing!
Hooray for WSIRN! Isn’t it wonderful! Yesterday’s guest was interesting because her interests were so different from the others. Stay tuned for the canoe treehouse trip report!
That was a fun mash up! Well done you! I did not get to use my sweet potatoes for the poundcake so I roasted them instead. I must climb back on the bandwagon and stop eating out of control! I’m currently waiting for Matthew to arrive. 🙂
I *might* be doing some stress baking as I type! I need snacks for Matthew, right? #idontlikehurricanes #goawaymatthew (Thanks for the kind words about my mash up! I was pleased with how it turned out!)
I wondered if you, too, would be dealing with the possibility of a hurricane. I knew Sheila was. Hope you both remain safe and dry. I am glad to see how you combined your Currently post with the 31 Days of Writing. I want to continue to do the posts I enjoy doing in addition to 31 Days but can’t imagine writing two posts! Struggling with writing one everyday. Really want to try the pound cake. I am afraid the roulade looks too fiddly for this old dame.
Matthew is pushing in as I type. Might be a long night! All is well so far, and I’m thankful. I had a LOT of fun writing this mash up! I don’t have very many scheduled link ups, and this is one of my favorites. I knew I couldn’t write 2, so the challenge was to make them play nicely somehow! Yes, the pound cake is easy, and you should definitely make it. The roulade is a pain in the rear but worth it for something special! Thanks for stopping by and joining the conversation!
I love this mash-up, especially because this sounds like some fun stuff happening in the kitchen. The What Should I Read Next podcast is still one of my favorites, but not much listening while cooking happens, given that I’m also wrangling a toddler at the same time….
Thanks for stopping by, Anne! I LOVE the Currently link up, so I knew I had to find a way to make it play nicely with my Write 31 Days topic! Cooking with a toddler is always and adventure, isn’t it! LOL! Hang in there. He’ll be able to help and wash dishes for you before you know it!
