What I Read – September 2016

What I Read – September 2016

My goodness!  September is already gone?!?  I’m pretty sure it’s June.  But…the leaves ARE looking like they may start to change colors pretty soon.  We’ve had a HOT September here in Coastal Georgia, and when it’s hot outside, we all know what to do, right?  READ BOOKS!  Here’s what I read this month.

Cress and Winter, Books 3 and 4 of the Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer.  I’ve enjoyed this whole series (even though it’s not my usual genre), and I just found it available for a great price here!  I read 3 of the 4 books and listened to one; both options are really good.

The Ways We Choose: Lessons for Life from a POW’s Experience by Dave Carey.  I shared how impressed I am by this book here.

Truly Madly Guilty by Liane Moriarty.  I posted a review in this post.  Oh, and did I mention that Liane was at #READ Savannah a couple of weekends ago?!?  She was lovely and funny!  I think I’ll enjoy her books even more now that I’ve met her!

The Peacemakers Series by Anna Schmidt.  These three books are set during the World War II years and feature characters who are of the Quaker faith.

I listened to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J. K. Rowling and narrated by Jim Dale.  I read the whole series and then joined Audible just to get all the audio books.  Amazing books and INCREDIBLE narration.

And last but certainly not least, I’m reading You Learn by Living: Eleven Keys for a More Fulfilling Life by Eleanor Roosevelt.  This is a book everyone should read.  Seriously.  Mrs. Roosevelt wrote this book more than 50 years ago, but with very few exceptions, the book seems to have written last month.  It’s THAT timely.  I’ve highlighted numerous passages.  This is really good stuff, y’all!

(For the record, none of these links are affiliate links.  Buy these books from your local indie bookstore if you have one!)

That’s it for September!  I predict that I’ll be doing less reading in October since I’ll be focusing on Michael Ann’s Kitchen for the Write 31 Days Challenge.  I hope you’ll follow along!

Have you read any extra special books this month?  Please tell me about them in the Comments section below!  I always appreciate good book recommendations!

  1. I definitely want to get that book by Eleanor Roosevelt! Now I’m thinking I want to *listen* to HP! Did you read the final book? I have not.

    1. Definitely DO get it! And then let me know what you think about it. Yes, I’ve read the final book and am listening to it now. You simply must read it or listen to it! Thanks for commenting!

  2. Ok! I ordered it! We’ll have to get together for coffee and discuss it!
