Currently – December 2017

Hi, readers!  Advent has started, and Christmas is coming soon!  Let’s see what everyone is up to with this month’s “Currently” linkup!  I am currently:

advent2

lighting:  our Advent candles!  This is the first week of Advent, one of my favorite times of the year.  I enjoy focusing on Jesus’ birth and his promised return and everything in between!  You can check out my DIY Advent Wreath for a way to make a quick and inexpensive Advent wreath; I also shared some Advent devotionals there and here.

spending:  time with my mom!  This is our first Christmas without my Grandmother, and I know it’s going to be particularly tough on Mama and her siblings.  Last week Mama and I made fruit cakes together, an annual tradition for her and Grandma.  What a blessing it was to bake with my mom, share some laughs, and reminisce about Grandma.  We even used Grandma’s baking pans…and her recipe OF COURSE!

choosing:  special gifts for my family and friends.  I love finding JUST the right thing, don’t you?

sending:  great big hugs to all the military families who are even now standing in long lines, spending lots of money to mail packages to loved ones who won’t be home this Christmas.  It’s what we do to stay close, and it’s worth every penny…and it’s tough.

singing:  all the Christmas songs!  My current favorite is “All Is Well” as sung by Jordan Smith.  I heard him sing it last year when he did a Christmas tour with Michael W. Smith (who wrote the song) and Amy Grant.  WOW doesn’t begin to cover it.  I really, really need him to record it!  For now I’ll have to listen to others sing it.  I also love all the songs on Keith & Kristyn Getty’s album “Joy: An Irish Christmas.”  I listen to it nearly every day!

Now you can dash over to In Residence to see what Anne is CURRENTLY up to and then to A Short Blonde to see what’s popping in Catherine’s world!

Play along with us by posting what YOU are currently lighting, spending, choosing, sending, and singing by leaving a comment below or by linking up!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. What a great way to remember and celebrate your grandma. I have special decorations made by my great grandma that I always pull out in her memory, and I love that it gives me a chance to tell Hendrik about her.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season, and thanks for joining in again!
