Sunday Smiles – Columbia, SC

Sunday Smiles – Columbia, SC

The Chief and I had planned to camp at Sesquicentennial State Park near Columbia, South Carolina this weekend.  Alas.  Tornado watches, high winds, and tent camping do NOT mix!  It was too dangerous to camp, but we decided to head on to Columbia for a one-night getaway anyway.  And stayed in a hotel instead!  (Thank you Hilton HHonors for the 25% discount!)

We visited Riverbanks Zoo (one of our favorites), scoped out Sesqui’s campground (for a future camping trip), and hiked one of Sesqui’s trails.  Here are some of my favorite photos from the weekend.

All three koalas were awake!  This guy was enjoying his lunch.

“Look, Dad!  They’re broomin’!” said the little boy near us.  *smile*

This handsome one had a LOT to say!  We’d never heard a tiger growl before. Very cool!

We look forward to getting back up to Sesqui later this year for some camping, more hiking, and kayaking.  It’s a beautiful park!

What zoo critters make YOU smile!  How about hiking?  Does you like it as much as we do?!?  Leave a comment and let me know!
