Currently I am…

making: a skirt.  Well, I bought everything I needed and washed the fabric, but then I got all intimidated by putting the zipper in.  Before I even started I got intimidated!  (I’m pretty sure there’s a sermon in there somewhere!)  I need to get over it already and finish it up!

wishlisting: items for Mother’s Day.  I don’t like doing this, but my husband and kids asked for ideas of things I like.  On my wishlist right now are these awesome Clark’s wedges in nude.  I have them in the honey color, and they’re some of the most comfortable shoes I own!

cleaning: my teeth.  Ugh.  I don’t like going to the dentist even if just for a cleaning.  Thankfully my dentist and her team are SUPER kind and patient with me!  They’ve earned my trust and have taken a lot of the dread away from dentist visits.  (Big shout out to Dr. Lindsay Sammons, Jenna, and all the great folks at Howard Family Dental in Pooler, Georgia!)  Oh!  No cavities!  YAY!

posting:  What I’m Reading.  I LOVE hearing about what other people are reading, so I decided to share my own list.

tasting: bacon jam.  I’m running into it everywhere these days, and it is yummy!  I first had it at Bacon Bros. Public House in Greenville, South Carolina (on top of homemade pimento cheese) and mentioned it in this Sunday Smiles post.  Then I had it again on my burger at the Green Truck Pub here in Savannah.  (Bacon stout jam & smoked gouda together on a grass-fed beef burger.  Oh my word, that was good!)   I’m looking at different bacon jam recipes and hope to make some soon.

Big thanks today to Anne at In Residence and Jenna at Gold & Bloom for inviting me to link up with them on this month’s “currently.”  What fun!

  1. Oh my goodness, bacon jam sounds amazing! Also, greenville and savannah are two of my favorite little towns! I went to college near savannah, so I went there a lot. So beautiful, and I miss it!

    Thanks for linking up!!

    1. Bacon jam IS amazing! I’ve learned there are many variations, so it’ll be interesting choosing which recipe I want to try first. Greenville and Savannah are lovely, I agree! You must have gone to Georgia Southern, maybe? I did too!

  2. Go you for even attempting to make a skirt! I have no sewing skills what-so-ever. Ooh, your pic reminds me that i have a dentist appt. soon for my cleaning….uugh! I HATE going to the dentist. I love to read as well and checked out your recent reads, but hadn’t heard of any of them. I jam currently reading the Charm Bracelet by Viola Shipman and The Ramblers by Aidan Donnelley Rowley.

    1. Hi, Nancy! Thanks for commenting! I
Haven’t sewn for a long time, so we’ll see how the skirt ends up! I can’t find an olive, A-line skirt anywhere, so that’s why I’m resorting to such desperate measures! When you go to the dentist, do you take something to hold onto or a small blanket to lay over you? Both of those things help me. Now I’m off to scope out the books you mentioned! Thanks!

  3. What I did today: Running earrands, visiting DD and grands, grocery shopping, cooking supper, talking to FL DD on phone, putting Easter decorations away, watching final American Idol with my little dog Lily on my lap, eating black walnut ice cream served by my sweet hubby.

  4. Did you make the skirt?! And did you get the wished for shoes for MD?

    1. You know, I’ve STILL not finished making that skirt! I really need to get on that! And sadly, no, I didn’t get those shoes for Mother’s Day. Ah well. I do have plenty of shoes already!
