Currently…

I don’t know what in the world happened to July, but it’s already time for a new round of Currently!  Currently, I am…

Hearting:  My new electric pressure cooker.  I’ve been reading about these for a good while now and finally took the plunge.  This thing is rocking my world!  I’ve used it nearly every day–and sometimes multiple times during the day–since I got it.  Here‘s the one I got.  I’ll have more to say about it very soon in another post!  (Short story:  the manual is basically useless, but the cooker works really well!)

Watching:  West Wing.  Thanks to Netflix I’m revisiting this favorite of mine from years ago.  Man, I loved this show, and it’s every bit as smart and fast-moving as I remember it being.

Exploring:  The DuPont State Recreational Forest, near Asheville, North Carolina.  Gene and I camped near Asheville so we could visit the Biltmore Estate and do some hiking.  We decided to hike a waterfall trail in the DuPont Forest.  We hiked about 9 miles or so and enjoyed seeing some of God’s beautiful handiwork!

I do love this man and our adventures!

Creating:  My To Be Read list for August  I’ll post it here on the blog Friday!

Eating:  Farro.  As in, the grain farro.  When we visited the Biltmore Estate a couple of weeks ago we ate lunch in Cedric’s Tavern.  I ordered the farro “risotto,” and it was amazing!  I’ve made a couple of versions of it since we came home, the second time using my electric pressure cooker.  And look what I just found!  THE recipe!

  1. Wow, you got some great pics! Sounds like a fun excursion. And I don’t think I’ve ever had farro risotto but that dish sounds delicious! Curious to see everything you came up with the pressure cooker too! Stopping by from the link-up 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! And thanks for the kind words about my pics! They don’t do the waterfalls justice, I assure you. They were stunning!

  2. I just found you from the linkup and I’ll have to come back to find out the scoop on your pressure cooker. I’ve been wanting one too but my husband doesn’t think we’ll use it enough. So I’m relying on you to convince him/us we will 😉 I’ve been to Biltmore a couple of times in my life and I remember that tavern!!

    1. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment, Erin! I’ll do my best to make a good argument for getting the pressure cooker! I’m here for you!

    1. LOL! The thing is that I DO read manuals! So when I say the manual is useless, I truly mean it! Almost NO instructions! I’m still shaking my head over it. Thanks for stopping by!
