Israel 2021- Mount of Beatitudes

Israel 2021- Mount of Beatitudes

I have to tell you, the area around the Sea of Galilee grabbed my soul in the very best way! It affected me emotionally more than anywhere else we went. I think it was because so much of that area really hasn’t changed much since Jesus lived and taught there.

We visited the Mount of Beatitudes on a beautiful, sunny day. It’s on the northwest corner of the Sea of Galilee. You could just SEE the crowds of people sitting on the hillside, listening to Jesus teach about His upside-down kingdom!

I encourage you to take a few minutes and read Matthew, chapters 5-7, it’s called The Sermon on the Mount, and hear what Jesus taught in this very area. Here are the first few verses in The Message translation.

“When Jesus saw his ministry drawing huge crowds, he climbed a hillside. Those who were apprenticed to him, the committed, climbed with him. Arriving at a quiet place, he sat down and taught his climbing companions. This is what he said:

‘You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule. You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you. You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.'”

Here are a few photos of the Church of Beatitudes. It was a beautiful place to worship and pray.

The mosaic floors are stunning!

If you’d like to read more of what Jesus taught in this famous message, take a minute, click HERE, and take it in. (This will open to Matthew 5. Just tap on the arrow to bump to Chapters 6 and 7.) Be encouraged by His words and know that that He loves you more than you could ever imagine! You are precious to Him!
