Funny Kayaking Story

Funny Kayaking Story

When I shared my Autumn Adventures Update a few days ago, I told you I had a funny story to tell you!  One of the items on my Autumn Adventures list is to go kayaking twice.  Gene and I love to paddle at George L. Smith State Park which is about an hour or so from us.  We’ve been several times but never when the cypress trees change color for fall.  I’m determined to get pictures of that. Speaking of…

Autumn Adventures 2018

Autumn Adventures 2018

Hooray for autumn!!!  Here in Coastal Georgia we don’t get much autumn color, but we DO get temperatures under 90 degrees!  Sometimes.  Eventually.  Still, it’s a special time of year because we can actually get outside and enjoy it!  Outdoor activities feature prominently in my Autumn Adventures list, so let’s get to it! Here are the adventures I hope to enjoy this autumn: 1.  All the camping and hiking!  Yes!  We have trips planned to Hendersonville, North Carolina; Chattanooga, Tennessee;…

Nashville: The Food! (Brunch)

Nashville: The Food! (Brunch)

My sweet husband has wanted to go to Nashville, Tennessee for a long time, and we finally made the trip over the 4th of July holiday. I’m so glad we did! I wasn’t sure what to expect in Nashville, but I was struck by three things: the music, the history, and the food. Today I’ll share some of our favorite food experiences, and then I’ll share some about the music and history over the next few days. We focused on…

Little Duck Diner

Little Duck Diner

It’s a rainy Sunday here in Savannah. We decided to try the Little Duck Diner after church for lunch today. We ran across it a whole back and have been meaning to try it out. We’re glad we did! The rain was really coming down. Not perfect when you have a 20-25 minute wait for your table! Thankfully we stayed pretty dry. Hooray! We made it inside! What a pretty place! I opted for the Fancy Shmancy Grilled Cheese. It…

Autumn Adventures – Final Update

Yes, this is way overdue!  Better late than never, I say.  Better late than never.  We checked off a few more fun adventures that I really meant to share with you, so I’ll do that now.  My official Autumn Adventures list and link to updates is posted HERE, if you want to peek back and see where I started! Item #5 on my list was to have my Christmas shopping finished before Thanksgiving.  That didn’t happen, and I gave myself…

Thinking About…Stopping for Grief

Thinking About…Stopping for Grief

You know how when someone dies everything should just stop? The world should just stop. We’re stunned with grief. Stop. Yet the sun shines; people buy groceries or go to work. It’s not right. My aunt died last week. I went to her funeral on Tuesday. We’re blessed in South Georgia to still have escorted funeral processions as family and friends move from the site of the funeral to the cemetery. Crisply dressed law enforcement officers stood at attention, wearing…
